January 1. New Years.

Happy New Year everyone!! here's a little taste of what my husband and I prepared for our New Year's dinner. drool away! :p

cheese and crackers. prosciutto and mozzarella pinwheels

my corn muffins, garlic-cheese biscuits, french bread, with honey, butter, and cream cheese

our awesome barbecue ribs that i cooked for 5 hours and my husband finished on the grill

my husband's awesome corned beef that cooked for 10 hours!! oh and potatoes

crema de fruta: layers of sponge cake, custard, and fruit cocktail in pineapple gelatin

berry trifle: layers of angel food cake, whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries

madeleines: small shell-shaped sponge cakes. served with chocolate dipping sauce

It is a Filipino tradition to prepare 13 kinds of round fruits for New Year. According to the Chinese, 13 is a lucky number and the round fruits will bring luck and prosperity for the coming year.There are only 12 kinds in the photo because we hang the 13th fruit outside our front door. the grapes.
